GAME OVER. South Africa win by seven wickets after finishing with a single courtesy of Jaques Kallis to reach 119-3 with one over to spare.

Kallis went on to reach 48 not out from 44 balls along with Jean-Paul Duminy who finished with 47 - a partnership of 90 from 91 deliveries.

A disappointing afternoon following a frustrating summer for England, who need to improve in the final two matches of the NatWest Series to build up confidence ahead of the World Cup.

Considering England's total was the third worst T20 they have recorded, worth pointing out that that up to the end of the sixth over they are doing better than the tourists.

Graeme Storm has slipped up, slightly.

His strong lead has been erased today and, despite a one under third round, he will go in to the final round tomorrow tied for the lead.

The Hartlepool golfer suffered his first bogeys of the KLM Open today by bogeying the 13th and 14th which ensured those below him could catch him.

Now Storm sits level with Pablo Larrazabal, Scott Jamieson and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano on 12 under ahead of the action tomorrow. 

Sweden's Peter Hanson is a shot further back, so all to play for still for Storm.

GOAL: Darlington go 4-0 up against Consett in the 50th minute and what a goal it was, achip by Chris Emms following a pass by Adam Nicholls at the end of a counter-attack. Emms had tie and pace to take a touch, but he took the shot first time and the ball dropped sweetly into the net from 18 yards.

GOAL: David Dowson makes it 2-0 to Darlington. He collided with keeper Peter Jameson on the edge of the penalty area, but knocked the ball into the unguarded net after collecting a long pass from the Darlington defence.

Almost a Consett own goal. Trickery on the left by Darlington’s Adam Nicholls led to a whipped in cross to the far post where left-back Ian Davidson attempted a chest-pass to keeper Peter Jameson that bounced inches wide of the post, conceding a corner in the process. Ten minutes until half-time, it remains 1-0 to Darlington who look good for a second goal.

Chances for both teams just now, both involving Darlington’s muscular midfielder Leon Scott. He first charged through the middle, brushing off the attentions of a couple of blue-shirted Consett defenders, before dragging an effort horribly wide.
Within 60 seconds his poor pass was seized upon by Consett striker Michael Mackay who laid the ball off to strike-partner Lewis Teasdale, but his effort ended up in Sainsbury’s car park.

22 minutes gone at Heritage Park and Darlington remain 1-0 up, though it’s not been entirely one-way traffic. Consett created an opportunity up the left that led to new Darlington defender Joe Tait blocking a shot from Michael Mackay, the former Hartlepool United striker.

But there’s been more action in Consett’s goalmouth. Consett captain Craig Robson blocked a shot from Adam Nicholls, who had earlier caused alarm for the visitors when he ghosted past Luke Sullivan and Calvin Smith, but keeper Peter Jameson saved the winger’s effort.

Consett lost 2-0 at league leaders West Auckland on Tuesday, but they were difficult to break down at Darlington Road. Not so today. Darlington sliced through the middle of their defence to take the lead after 15 seconds with Amar Purewal netting his fourth from the club from near the penalty spot. Ten minutes gone, still 1-0.

First update of the day from Heritage Park where Darlington play Consett , just two weeks since they met at Belle Vue.
Quakers won that meeting during their successful start to the season, which came to an abrupt end on Wednesday when Martin Gray’s men lost 4-1 at Guisborough Town.
Before then Darlington had won four successive matches: Bishop Auckland (3-1), Marske (3-0), Consett (3-0) and Dunston UTS (4-0).
Gray spent yesterday in talks with potential new signings with one deal being concluded – the arrival of Joe Tait - while another is understood to be on the verge of completion.
Defender Tait has signed having received international clearance following a spell playing in the US having come through the ranks at Hartlepool United.

England made light work of that  against the West Indies. Skipper Charlotte Edwards led from the front to reach an undefeated 27 from 26 balls, which included three fours.

Edwards was helped along by 31 from Laura Marsh before she was stumped by Merissa Aguilleira and four from Sarah Taylor until being caught by Britney Cooper off the bowling of Shermaine Campbell.

Arran Brindle was  on five not out alongside Edwards when England claimed the first victory of the three match series against the tourists.

Now we wait for the men ... 2.30pm start against South Africa.

It was a poor total for the tourists, whose top scorers were Tremayne Smart on 14 and Merissa Aguilleira hit 21 from 29 balls.

England's Holly Colvin took two wickets for just five runs in an impressive showing, while Katherine Brunt claimed two for 16.

England's batting order should have no problems in reaching that total when the play resumes shortly.
