Creditors unlikely to get Darlington FC cash
8:30am Tuesday 31st July 2012 in Football
By Joe Willis, Regional Chief Reporter
CREDITORS owed money by the former owners of Darlington FC are unlikely to receive a payout, liquidators have warned.
Darlington FC 2009, which was formed by former chairman Raj Singh , is in the process of being liquidated by Yarm accountants Taylor Rowlands.
Liquidator Harvey Madden said the company’s total debts were still being calculated, but it is believed Mr Singh is the biggest creditor and is owed about £800,000.
Mr Madden said: “Ideally, we would have exited administration with a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) but that was not possible, so the only available route was to put the company into liquidation.
“We’ve finalised the administration and we’re now in the process of going through the liquidation.”
Mr Madden said his office had contacted creditors to find out how much the company owed.
“If there is money left at the end of the day, there may be a dividend to creditors. However, I’ve got to say it doesn’t look likely.
“Maybe the preferential creditors will get something, but it doesn’t look like there will be anything left for the unsecured creditors.”
Mr Madden confirmed that Mr Singh was an unsecured creditor.
Mr Madden said he planned to travel to London speak to Fulham FC regarding clauses in the contracts of former Quakers players Dan Burn and David Stockdale before the company was liquidated.
Darlington FC 2009 retained half the rights to the clauses, while Darlington 1883 (DFC 1883), which now owns the Quakers, owns the second half of the rights.
Commenting on the clauses, Craig Mckenna, DFC 1883 project manager, said: “It’s no secret that 1883 would benefit from any revenue that is generated from the Dan Burn and David Stockdale clauses.
“We’re obviously hopeful that Harvey’s discussions with Fulham will generate a cash boost for the football club.”
DFC 1883 yesterday reported that about £2,000 was collected at the Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather production, that was staged last week at Darlington Civic Theatre.
The show also made a reasonable profit for the club, although the total is not yet known, Mr McKenna added.

Hope we get a few bob from the two players above to launch next season 2013/14 promotion push as well !. Soon be back were we belong. no thanks to those who put us in this position.
Can't wait for the new season as one of the 993 ticket holders for the away game at Bish, also as a CIC investor, and lifelong Darlo fan. Things are getting better by the day.
COME ON DARLO!!!!

Pathetic people like you and the others that surround Darlington 1883 don't understand the mechanics of business and because of that so many potential benefactors who looked at offering a life line have said "I'm Out".

As for Singh - He did not help my club, he sunk it after his infamous radio interview !
I don't claim to understand the mechanics of business but i know that Darlo are not in as much debt as say Manchester United who are currently prostituting themselves on the New York Stock Exchange to stop the biggest footy club in the world going under like mighty Glasgow Rangers!. Also what do the so called experts of business know about business? i thought the worlds markets have imploded so you can't just point the finger at footy clubs like Darlo in these harsh economic times!
Can't wait for the footy season.
Come On Darlo, Sod Off SAD Mr Smith, Ha Ha Ha

Mouths are made to saying things and at times a pile of s***e comes out but when someone is bank rolling something people have to take the rough with the smooth! Something the people of Darlington and the fans of the football club cannot do, look no further than NUFC and Mike Ashley, he was hated and from a lot still is, but he pulled them around!
Pitty the so called fans of Darlington FC could not see the wood for the trees - what was I told about people like that when I was a kid?
Oh yeah - morons!
Enjoy Level 9 you all deserve it Ha Ha Ha

It's a thankless task being a football chairman. Most of them end up losing lots of money and being hated.

Grass root sport is missing out on this money, but that is the way things go, so maybe beer and loose women is the best alternative!?

You have a bunch of wannabe heroes looking after affairs and as far as I can understand from comment made by others one of them is more interested in discussing her personal life on a social website than actually doing anything constructive.
Wow 1,200 tickets sold, how many for Bishop? What I and probably any sensible person looking to invest in Darlington 1883 cannot understand is why are you scrounging on the street, begging in shopping centres and handing round buckets at shows about other football clubs to raise funds for your club when you cannot follow them on their friendly tour?
Whitby - 409 Attendance
Northallerton Town - 710 Attendance
Crook Town - 313 Attendance
Glasshoughton Welfare - 165 Attendance
Obviously your club does not need the split gate, so PLEASE STOP SCROUNGING, I AM SICK OF SEEING BUCKETS IN MY FACE WHEN I VISIT DARLINGTON.

Darlington supportes seem to forget that if it wasnt for George Reynolds or Raj Singh we wouldnt have a football club at all !! Everyone jumped on George Reynolds who put a huge amount of money into the club !! Darlington council did nothing to help they stopped George holding car boot sales to make extra money, then once he had gone they started holding one themselves !!
GR used his own money, RS used his own money so what more do the so called fans want from someone?
What did the fans do? - Stayed away in their droves, causing the clubs finances to dwindle.
What did Darlington Council do to assist? - Nothing at all
What really did the supporters trust do? - Nothing at all, they sent buckets around gathered the cash then put it in the bank never to be seen again.
And by the wasy - Is that not theft? A person is guilty of theft, if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it. It is immaterial whether the appropriation is made with a view to gain, or is made for the thief’s own benefit. So can I now assume that the money i put in that bucket all those years ago has been stolen and nobody has been charged with this theft?
Any way I digress ....
What happened when GR pulled away and GH and pals played with you a while? - RS stepped up to be counted and the so called fans shot him down.
Fans should be fans and stop trying to know how a football club works and let those that know about business do their part (Not all football club chairmen like football, they just like the money a club can generate - and by generating money at a profit keeps them happy)

That's right... by putting on various fundraising events be it a Sportsman's Dinner, Family Fun Days or even the unique idea of putting on a theatre show!
If you don't like it, nobodies forcing you to attend.

You call it scrounging, any club / community calls it fundraising. How do you think other small clubs in The Northern League make extra cash?

I call fundraising fundraising, but when you don't actually do anything with the money then I call that theft!! All small clubs need to run events no matter what sport, but even when Darlington have done this in the past you never get a fantastic turnout - why is that? The reason is because the people of Darlington are trying to tell you that they are not bothered if you have a football team or not!!!
Read what I actually said, I have put a button or three in a bucket to assist the survival of Darlington FC, but when you are constantly doing it and the money does not actually get spent to aid the demise of the club then enough is enough.
Stop scrounging for a few months and let the money in the supporters trust aid your recovery from the Northern League - Oh yeah they don't want to give the money up do they!?

What will the fans of the club do when these so called saviours run the club down, making them a laughing stock? - Exactly the same as they have always done, back on the big drum banging on about been let down, made to look like fools in the football world and then start passing round the buckets again.

As one of the female 1883 Board Directors and the only one to interact using Social Media, I find darlogirl1's comments extremely offensive. I run my own business, have two children and I have been happily married for 10 years and I am utterly disgusted by the comments (and not just on this thread). These comments are nothing but slanderous and I shall pursue this further if necessary.
I'm no football fan & never comment on these stories but have seen people abused by her time & again.
