GATESHEAD are to add another former Darlington player to their ranks with striker Ryan Bowman moving to the International Stadium from Torquay United.

Having this summer already recruited former Quakers favourite Sam Russell, Bowman will take the number of ex-Darlington players in the Heed squad to four.

Jamie Chandler and Rob Ramshaw are regulars at Gateshead, who this evening play Quakers in a pre-season friendly at the International Stadium (7:30pm).

There are further links between the two clubs’ respective squads as Darlington’s Phil Turnbull, Graeme Armstrong and David Dowson have all previously turned out for Gateshead.

Bowman joins for an undisclosed fee from Torquay United, for whom he last season scored 12 goals in 37 appearances in his sole season at Plainmoor after moving from York City.

Bowman started his career with hometown club Carlisle before then Darlington manager Mark Cooper took him to The Northern Echo Arena for the 2011-12 season when he was the team's top scorer. Severe financial problems saw the squad decimated and he headed to Hereford United.
