THREE games to go, three wins wanted.

That’s the situation Darlington are in ahead of the last week of their season, a season that will extend to include the play-offs should they finish second behind leaders Salford City.

Although currently second in the table, Quakers will end the campaign on top if they win their remaining three fixtures: at Lancaster City tomorrow, Warrington on Tuesday and against New Mills at Heritage Park on Saturday, April 25.

Having won their last six in a row, winning the aforementioned fixtures would match Darlington’s best run of the season.

From September to November they were unbeaten in 16 matches, a sequence that featured nine wins a row.

“We know what we have to do and that’s win all of our games,” said winger Adam Mitchell, who has come into some good form lately with six goals in five appearances.

“If you look at the run we had earlier in the season, we’re trying to match it.

“The full squad is so strong, it’s not just about the 11 on the pitch, and we’ve got players on the bench who can come on and change the game.”

While Quakers tomorrow play tenth-placed Lancaster, who have not conceded a goal in three matches, Salford will be at Burscough.

Mitchell added: “The only time we look at other scores is after we’ve played, before a game we’re not too bothered.”

Manager Martin Gray says, aside from long-term injury victim Amar Purewal, he has a fully fit squad to choose from. He will again decide between Terry Galbraith an Ian Watson to play at left-back.
