CHRISTOPHE Berra's hopes of winning a move to Wolves appear to be fading after Mick McCarthy turned to Jason Shackell of Norwich in his search for a new centre-half.

McCarthy had a £1.5million bid for Scotland internationalist Berra turned down by the Tynecastle club.

But the signs are former Celtic and Republic of Ireland player Mick will not be increasing his offer for the Jambos star.

He has now offered Norwich £1m for Shackell.

Meanwhile, Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov must stump up £120,000 in compensation if he wants to land Uganda manager Laszlo Csaba as new boss.
