THE top two sides in Division Two produced a ten-goal thriller last Sunday as four goals from Rafa Kochanski helped leaders West Tanfield to three points.

The game got off to an explosive start when Martin Mason burst through to put Tanfield ahead after just 13 minutes, but Brompton turned it around with two goals in seven minutes. Ali Logan equalised with a fine 17th minute finish before a corner from Marshall Thorogood was headed past his own goalkeeper by Tanfield defender Tommy Smith.

But Tanfield were level by the break with another goal from Mason and they then looked in control when Kochanski showed his class with two goals in the opening seven minutes of the second period.

However, Brompton had been on a great recent run and they rallied with two quick goals themselves, both scored by winger Chris Pickersgill in the 66th and 77th minutes.

Brompton then piled on the pressure in the closing stages as they sensed the chance to go top but it was Tanfield, and that man Kochanski, that would have the final word.

With just four minutes left on the clock, Duncan Terry was brought down right on the edge of the penalty area and Kochanski curled home a fantastic free kick to complete his hat-trick.

Then, deep into stoppage time and with Brompton pushing on in search of the equaliser, Kochanski chipped the ball over stranded Brompton goalkeeper Tom Ptak from 30 yards to seal what could prove to be a vital three points for Tanfield.
