COLBURN Town may be 12 points off the top of the table but they are the in-form side in the league as they made it eight wins in a row in all competitions last Saturday with a 5-2 victory at the previously unbeaten Spennithorne and Harmby. Stu Murray opened the scoring inside two minutes and there was no stopping him or Colburn after that in a devastating first half display.

Murray added three more before Liam Hall made it 5-0 at the break, and while Spenni improved in the second half and scored through James Stanger and Craig Marwood, it was not enough to save their unbeaten league record. Colburn still have work to do to get back in the title race but they do have three games in hand and after scoring 53 times in their last eight games, you would not bet against them doing so.

League leaders and defending champions Unicorn FC maintained their three point advantage at the top of the table with a 5-0 home victory over Catterick Rovers. The leaders were in control throughout but it took them until the 35th minute to break the deadlock when Darren Enright pulled the ball back for Gav Armstrong to score. It was 2-0 early in the second half when Liam Waller slotted home after a short corner from Matthew Libera, while Armstrong, with his second, Shaun Charlton and Ryan Crowther then completed the scoring in the final 20 minutes.

Hawes United remain second after an impressive 3-1 success at Richmond Buck Inn. A goal from Wilf Dinsdale gave Hawes a narrow halftime advantage but the Buck were level just past the hour with a strike from top scorer Mark Swanwick – his 16th of the season. However, Dinsdale grabbed his second five minutes later before Steve Calvert sealed the points ten minutes from time.

Catterick Garrison Football Centre have been in good form and they moved into the top three with a 5-0 home win over Reeth. Rory Wallace opened the scoring inside the first minute and that set the tone for a comfortable Catterick success. Pete Hurry and Damian Hargreaves ended the match as a contest before the break while Hargreaves went on to complete his hattrick in the second half.

There was a shock result at Catterick Village where bottom side Richmond Town Academy beat title-chasing Richmond Mavericks Reserves 1-0. Town began the day two points adrift at the bottom while the Mavs were sitting pretty in the top three, but a second half goal from Joe Dingwall was enough to produce the shock result.

The final game of the week saw Askrigg United beat neighbours Carperby Rovers 4-1. George Handley gave Askrigg a first minute lead which Richard Sunter doubled before the break.

Rovers were back in to it soon after the restart courtesy of an own goal, but Askrigg sealed the points with strikes from Martyn Alderson and substitute Shaun Kell in the closing stages.
