MEDITERRANEAN temperatures greeted the crowds as they descended on Bishop Burton College’s horse trials earlier this month.
More than 700 competitors took part in the two one-day events at the college and wowed the spectators with their dressage, show jumping and cross-country skills.
Northallerton rider Nicola Wilson took novice section D with a penalty of 34.00 aboard Inde.
The pair, who are enjoying their first season together, have been placed at Oasby, Moreton Morrell and Floors Castle.
Wilson, who earned a place on last year’s Olympic reserve team with Opposition Buzz, also took third in intermediate section F on her own eightyear- old mare Goulton Eugenie.
She said: “We had good ground and it’s a very nice event. The horses went well – I rode both the novice and intermediate courses and they were both very good.”
Open intermediate winner Ben Hobday was also impressed with the course. He took the section with a penalty of 47.00 riding ten-year-old gelding Just Morse, owned by Laura Grieve.
Hobday also took the BE100 section M on Tulla Road with a score of 32.00 and gained a tenth in novice section E with Cariba 15.
Other competitors included Durhambased former Olympian Karen Dixon, who entered BE100 section B with Zorro II and novice section D aboard Sort of Smart.
She failed to make an appearance in the placings of either section, but enjoyed two fourths with Sort of Smart at Floors Castle and Richmond earlier in the season.
