The NYSD Premier League's youngsters made it to the final of the Yorkshire under-17 championships when they overwhelmed the Huddersfield JCL at Acklam Park.

With the Thornaby ground flooded the league executive made a decision on Saturday night to switch the venue to Middlesbrough, and they were was rewarded by an emphatic performance that means the representative team will meet either York or Barnsley in the county final on August 28.

There was no hesitation in inserting Huddersfield when the toss was won, and opening bowlers James Weighell and Louis Harper repaid their captain's faith to reduce Huddersfield to 15-6.

Weighell ended with 3-6 from his 7 overs, while Harper picked up 3-16 in his 7 over stint, and there wasn't much let up for the visiting batsmen as James Quinn, Ryan Buckley and Rob Dixon finished them off for 58, Dixon ending with 2-4 from 6.2 overs.

Adil Arif then gave the NYSD impetus with 15 from 15 balls, and when he departed Quinn and skipper James Lines played some exquisite shots to demoralise their opponents.

Quinn ended 20 not out from 28 balls, while Lines hit an unbeaten 19 from just 12, the NYSD Winners by nine wickets, using just 10 of their allotted 50 overs in doing so.
