A Liverpool legend is heading to the North-East over Easter as guest speaker at Peterlee Cricket Club’s ever-popular annual Sportsman’s Dinner.

Every year the club organises a fund-raising dinner to help towards their running costs to cover four senior teams and four junior teams playing cricket in the town.

The event takes place at Shotton Hall in Peterlee – always on the Thursday before Good Friday.

A Danish international, Molby is highly-rated on the after-dinner circuit and is the latest high-profile speaker to be attracted to speak at Peterlee, following the likes of Craig Hignett and Don Goodman in recent years.

Backed up by top comedian Gary Marshall, the night is sure to be another memorable affair with crucial money raised to pump in to youth development at Peterlee Cricket Club.

“We’re delighted to have Jan as our guest speaker this year – we’ve heard nothing but good reports about him,” event organiser Mark Simpson explained.

“This dinner is a vital part of Peterlee Cricket’s fund-raising efforts throughout the year and all profits go towards supporting cricket in the town, much of it in to youth development.

“We have teams through from Under-11s to Under-18s and they provide the production line to our competitive senior teams as part of a real family club.

“The Sportsman’s Dinner is always a date to look out for on our calendar and one that everyone enjoys so anyone that can come along and support the event will be welcome.”

Tickets are priced at just £30 which includes a three-course dinner and can be booked by calling Simpson on 07966 891 557 or emailing mark.simpson@hartlepoolunited.co.uk
