TOM LATHAM faces a fitness test today before making his senior Durham debut in this evening's NatWest T20 Blast match at home to Yorkshire (6.30).

The New Zealander tuned up by making 241, the highest score by any batsman for Durham seconds, in the game against the MCC Young Cricketers.

Paceman Brydon Carse has also been rewarded with a place in tonight's squad after scoring his maiden century at High Wycombe, where the third day was washed out yesterday.

Durham need to be sure that Latham has suffered no reaction on his recovery from a foot injury before confirming his participation.

While Yorkshire have every chance of progress, Durham have little hope of even escaping bottom place in the north group as they are now further adrift than when they began on minus four points.

But they will hope Latham can rekindle interest in their flagging campaign, although hopes of topping an attendance total of 30,000 for the first time have receded.

They are disappointed that tonight's game clashes with Sunderland's opening fixture in the Championship at home to Derby.

Paul Collingwood has moved up to fourth place in this season’s overall PCA Most Valuable Player rankings, which carry a prize of £10,000, following his haul of 43 points in Sunday's defeat at Worcester.

After becoming the first Durham batsman to make a T20 century, he is 40 points behind the MVP leader, Surrey’s Kumar Sangakkara.

Collingwood is third in Blast rankings with 114 points, 35 behind Derbyshire's Wayne Madsen and 21 adrift of second-placed David Willey prior to last night's clash between Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Paul Coughlin is in 22nd place with 73 points.

Chris Rushworth, who is rested this evening, is Durham's highest-placed player in the Specsavers County Championship MVP rankings in 21st position with 141 points, with Collingwood three places further back. Durham will turn their attention back to the four-day game with a trip to Leicester on Sunday, but there has been no word yet from the England hierarchy that Mark Wood will be available.

With Carse and Graham Onions now fully fit, Durham will be spoilt for choice in the seam department with or without Wood.
