RYAN Pringle's haul of ten gave him more wickets in the match at the Ageas Bowl than he had previously taken all season.

His career-best seven for 107 in Hampshire's second innings gave him match figures of ten for 260.

Hampshire batted for an hour to add 69 before declaring on 245 for nine, setting Durham a target of 296 in 78 overs. They reached 41 without loss from 15 overs at lunch, the biggest scare coming when Will Smith came on for the 11th over. His first ball brought a confident shout for lbw with Keaton Jennings on ten.

Mark Stoneman was off the mark with an inside edge, but otherwise looked comfortable in hitting five fours on his way to 27 Pringle was quickly handed his sixth wicket when nightwatchman Mason Crane drove to mid-on.

But Lewis McManus hit the off-spinner for two fours in his second over to reach 50 off 68 balls. The wicketkeeper went on to make 67 before he was caught down the leg side by Michael Richardson.

Brad Wheal helped Gareth Berg to bat out the opening hour, which was Hampshire's stated target and Durham suffered some barracking for time-wasting just before the declaration.
