DURHAM will forget about next Saturday's NatWest T20 Blast semi-final meeting with Yorkshire as they attempt to erase memories of last year's catastrophe at Lord's.

Having conceded a first innings deficit of 169, they gave themselves a chance of victory by dismissing Middlesex for 89, only to be bowled out for 71.

That was in early May on a pitch which suited the seamers, with James Harris taking nine for 34, giving him 13 wickets in the match.

That's only three fewer than he has taken all season this year, at a cost of 50.43, and after their Taunton trauma last week Durham wait to see whether Middlesex opt for a second spinner.

Off-spinner Ollie Rayner didn't feature in this season's clash at Emirates Riverside, but is certain to play at Lord's after picking up 26 wickets in eight games.

Australia-born leg-spinner Nathan Sowter is also in the squad, along with off-spinning all-rounder Ryan Higgins, although both have yet to make a first-class debut.

Middlesex are 13 points clear at the top, while Durham have slipped to fourth, 20 behind their hosts with a game in hand.

They were the last two unbeaten sides until Durham lost at Taunton while Middlesex were saved from defeat against Surrey by George Bailey's second innings century.

He has left to join the Australian one-day squad in Sri Lanka, leaving Middlesex without an overseas player, while Sam Robson and Eoin Morgan are injured.

Durham will revert to the side they intended to field at Taunton, with Paul Collingwood and Jack Burnham returning. Usman Arshad and Stuart Poynter are again with the squad, but not Gordon Muchall.

Scott Borthwick and Keaton Jennings have strengthened their position in the top ten of the Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Player rankings.

Borthwick became the first Durham player to top 350 points and is in seventh place in the overall table, one ahead of Jennings, who picked up 12 points from the NatWest T20 Blast win at Bristol.

n Calum MacLeod suffered more frustration as the final day of the Scotland's game against UAE in Ayr was also washed out. Only 66 overs were bowled in four days. MacLeod was obliged to play and did not opt to miss Durham's T20 quarter-final at Bristol.
