KEATON Jennings continued to hold the Durham innings together as he reached 92 out of 193 for six against Somerset at tea.

The 23-year-old South African lost his place for the last six games last season after an innings of 98 at Lord's in the third match was followed by a top score of 61.

Showing patience against an attack which lacked variety without the Overton twins, Jennings was strong through the off-side off the back foot.

A third-wicket stand of 79 with England Under 19 batsman Jack Burnham had Durham looking comfortable on 134 for two until a superb ball from Scotsman Josh Davey beat Burnham's forward push to take out off and middle.

Then Lewis Gregory took two in two with balls nipping back into the right-handers. The first moved so sharply it looked as though it might have missed leg stump, but umpire Nigel Cowley had no doubt.

The next delivery splattered Paul Collingwood's stumps but the hat-trick ball was short and allowed Ryan Pringle an easy two runs through the covers.

But after reaching ten Pringle drove a low catch to Davey at extra cover off Tim Groenewald, leaving Usman Arshad to show a more restrained approach in taking 13 balls to get off the mark. He was on five at tea.
