DURHAM have included Adam Hickey and Irish seamer Barry McCarthy in their squad for the first time for tonight's final NatWest T20 Blast group match at Northampton.

'Their focus is on making a winning start to their defence of the Royal London Cup tomorrow in the second leg of their double-header at Wantage Road.

Paul Collingwood, John Hastings and Chris Rushworth are rested this evening as Durham have no chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

That's not to say they won't be trying as they don't wish to be seen to be easing their hosts' progress.

Along with Lancashire and Nottinghamshire, Northants are battling for one of the two remaining qualification places.

Durham's one-day skipper Mark Stoneman said: “We want to win every game we play.

“We can't go through so Saturday is more important to us, but we won't be holding back. It's another chance for Graham Clark to impress and to take a look at two of the young lads who have been pressing their claims in the second team.”

Hickey followed his century in this week's Second X1 Championship match against Lancashire at Crosby with a fine all-round performance in yesterday's Second X1 Trophy match at Middlewich.

He took three for 30 with his off-spin as Lancashire were dismissed for 165 and scored 66 as Durham cruised home by seven wickets.

Calum MacLeod is still with Scotland, who have qualified for next year's World T20 Championships in India along with the three other semi-finalists from the ICC competition.

Scotland play their semi-final at Malahide, Dublin, tomorrow against a Hong Kong side which includes Durham University graduate Jamie Atkinson, the son of Steve Atkinson, the former Chester-le-Street batsman who played for Durham as a Minor County.

Atkinson scored 47 in the five-wicket win against Afghanistan which secured Hong Kong's qualification, but the game is being investigated under suspicion of betting irregularities.
