Notts, invited to bat on a green looking pitch, slipped from 43-0 to 53-3 in the 19th over as Steve Patterson struck twice and Tim Bresnan once.

Brendan Taylor was caught behind off Patterson, who later got James Taylor the same way for a golden duck. Sandwiched in between, Bresnan trapped Michael Lumb lbw.

The first three wickets came in a four-over spell before Ryan Sidebottom later had Steven Mullaney caught behind, leaving the score at 80-4 in the 27th.
