A SHORT, heavy shower prompted an early tea at Edgbaston with Durham on 53 for two in their second innings after following on 265 behind.

The first innings was swiftly wrapped up after lunch, when Chris Rushworth was yorked by Richard Jones and Paul Collingwood was bowled for 68 trying to slog Boyd Rankin over-mid-wicket.

Durham were all out for 185 with Keith Barker taking four for 54 and he followed up with two more.

Mark Stoneman looked fortunate to survive the first ball of the innings, a full-length swinger which hit him in front of middle stump. Something identical later accounted for Scott Borthwick for 14.

Barker had Keaton Jennings caught at second slip with his ninth ball, but Stoneman batted solidly to reach 18 when the rain arrived, with Michael Richardson on 16.

The sun came out after the shower, but more dark clouds were building up.
