DURHAM added only 29 runs as they lost their last three wickets at Lord’s this morning to be all out for 377.

Middlesex reached 70 for two at lunch, Chris Rushworth claiming the scalps of Test batsmen Chris Rogers and Sam Robson.

He was unlucky not to have more as several edges just eluded the slips, notably one by left-hander Dawid Malan, who reached 37 at the break.

Scott Borthwick added only seven to his overnight 169 before skying a pull to fine leg, where Robson took a good catch.

John Hastings, who had made 12, edged the next ball to Malan at second to give Steven Finn a third wicket.

Tim Murtagh picked up his fifth when Rushworth hooked to long leg, evidently placing little faith in Peter Chase, who has been retained in the team at the expense of Paul Coughlin.

Rushworth’s first ball beat left-hander Rogers, his second was edged for four, the third was tucked away to the mid-wicket boundary and the fifth again found the edge on the way to Phil Mustard.

Robson made 15 before he groped forward to an excellent ball which trimmed his off stump.

Hastings was out of luck and when he made way for Chase the Irishman’ first ball was edged to the boundary to give Eoin Morgan his only runs before lunch.
