DURHAM have moved out of the County Championship relegation zone after claiming a crucial 54-run victory over Nottinghamshire at Emirates Durham ICG.

Resuming this morning needing six more Notts wickets to claim victory, Durham's bowlers achieved the target for the concession of just 123 more runs.

That left Nottinghamshire short of their victory target, and enables Durham to move out of the relegation places.

John Hastings took the crucial final wicket, clean bowling Chris Read after both Chris Rushworth and Paul Collingwood had put down chances to end things.

Debutant Peter Chase was the star of Durham's second-innings bowling display, taking four wickets this morning, including two in as many balls, to finish with figures of 5-64.
