Quakers head to Seaham

Darlington conclude their pre-season programme today when they head to Seaham Red Star for a morning friendly (11am kick-off).

It is Quakers' ninth and final friendly with manager Martin Gray intending to field a strong XI in preparation for their Northern League opener next Saturday.

In seven days' time they face Bishop Auckland in a match that is heading for a sell-out at the 2,000-capacity Heritage Park.

Most of Northern League clubs start the season in FA Cup action today, but the FA excluded Darlington from entering national cup competitions.

In midweek, a youthful Quakers XI, that included a handful of trialists, lost 2-1 at Darlington RA while the senior side defeated Gateshead's reserves 4-0.
