McReady exits Quakers

Exit: McReady Exit: McReady

JOHN McReady has left Darlington to sign for York City.

The Minstermen, promoted back into the Football League, have signed the 20-year-old on a two-year deal.

He was one of two players still under contract with Northern League Quakers - left-back Phil Gray the other - and as part of the deal the sides will meet in a pre-season friendly in 12 months.

Well it wouldn't be would it, it's undisclosed that's why. When do you ever see the fee in a press release?
Ripped off? Hmm, don't think so, the club have been working hard to get the best deal possible for John. With the league we are now in we can't ask for a huge fee as clubs simply won't pay it.
What we can do is ask for a smaller up front fee with clauses such as a future % of a sale or appearance fees, say 50/100 games

Read all about it, Darlo news followed by negative comments shocker! You lot are unbelievable sometimes. I'm sure Dfc 1883 got the best deal they could, why do you all look on the dark side of everything that happens. Yes, we're all a bit cynical after recent, and not so recent events at the club. But now, we are starting afresh with owners who care about the football team and are Darlo fans. Move on people and get behind the club. A friendly next year will give next season a good financial boost. Its not just about financing this season, we have to grow year to year. UP THE QUAKERS.

Who can blame him wanting to play for a Football league team instead of a minor non league north east club

Good luck to John. Definitely a L2 player at least. Some of his performances at home last year were top notch. I am sure the deal will be largely appearances and sell on clauses based. Often makes sense with younger players.

Why won't DFC1883 disclose the fee???....
In the Northern Echo 23/6/2012 Gray warns: McReady won’t leave cheaply;.......
"He's got a year left on his contract and he won't be leaving for free," said Gray, who admitted that York City are among those interested in McReady.
"He's been with the club for seven years, coming through the development section and the youth team, that's a lot of time, effort and money that's gone into him so he we're not going to let a club take him for nothing.
So how much is the club getting for this deal?.
