THE Darlington players who suffered a humiliating defeat in front of their home crowd last Friday night will have the chance to restore some professional pride when they visit Hereford United tomorrow.

The Quakers team chosen by caretaker manager Neil Maddison and Martin Gray in the wake of David Hodgson's sacking were soundly beaten 5-0 by Rochdale.

They showed no stomach for a fight after defender Craig James was sent off soon after Mariko Sako gave the visitors an early lead. Further goals from Alan Goodall, Sako again and Chris Dagnall meant the game was over as a contest by half-time.

Quakers did improve after the break, but Clive Moyo-Modise scored eight minutes from time to complete a miserable night for the home side.

Maddison was hoping to bring in defensive reinforcements this week, but it seemed unlikely any new signings would be made before the trip to Hereford, who only trail Darlington on goal difference.
