Richmond Town Academy moved level on points with leaders Colburn Town after they beat them 4-1 in the match of the week at Earls Orchard last Saturday.

The visitors arrived with a 100 per cent record in league and cup this season but the Academy, with only one defeat themselves so far, put an end to that in fine style.

Things looked to be going the leaders’ way when Damian Hargreaves gave them an early lead, but a brace from Stuart Pigg and further strikes from Dan Briody and Ben Hook gave the Academy all three points to put them level at the top.

Buck Inn Old Boys leapt up to third after they hit double figures for the second week in a row, this time against Carperby Rovers. Mickey White scored the first of another hat-trick inside the opening minute to take his tally for the season to 16 in just seven games, while Jamie King also scored three times.

John Bishton, Martin Cundy and Danny Glue were also on target while an own goal then completed a comprehensive 10-0 Old Boys victory.

Leyburn United are only three points off the leaders after a comfortable 4-0 win at Askrigg United.

Despite not hitting the heights they are capable of in the first half Leyburn still led 2- 0 at the break thanks to strikes from Chris Greig and Charlie Aliss, while Ollie Anderson and a Paul Barnard penalty then completed the scoring in a much-improved second half display.

Hawes United put themselves right back into the title race with a 2-0 win at fourthplaced Buck Inn Broncos. The visitors just edged a tight game with goals from top scorer Darren Bell, his 10th of the season, and Jonathon Champion to now leave just six points separating the top six clubs in the league.

Spennithorne and Harmby claimed the biggest win of the season so far with a 19-0 thrashing of bottom side Hawes B.

Liam Reeves led the way with an astonishing nine-goal haul while Lee Davison and Darren Enright struck hat-tricks as the Hawes goals against column went past the 100 mark. Lee Shaw hit two crackers with Ryan Gaze and Barry Harker also on target to put Spenni up to seventh in the table.

The final match of the week saw Reeth end their losing run in the league with an 8-1 thrashing of Unicorn FC.

Buoyed by their cup win at Richmond Mavericks the previous week, Reeth easily swatted aside an under-par Unicorn aside as John Williams and Steve Fleming both hit hattricks with Karl Longdon and Eddy Anderson completing the rout.

Chris Duckett had earlier hit a consolation for Unicorn who now drop into the bottom two.
