York Senior League A SUPERB all-round performance by Mark Wilkie ensured an overwhelming victory for Sessay at Thirsk in their Hambleton derby game.

Wilkie's 8-18 saw Thirsk tumble to 104 all out with only Des Wyrill, whose home overlooks his opponents' ground, making a decent score in reaching 39. Wilkie then followed up by hitting an unbeaten 64 as he and John Flintoff, 32no, knocked off the runs without any loss.

Studley Royal continued to impress in their new environment and made a whopping 296-4 on their first visit to Easingwold. The big score owed much to a third wicket stand of 117 between Rob Nicholson, who hit 133, and Gary Blackburn, who made 58.

Earlier runs were provided by Steve Walmsley (32) and Charlie Scatchard (45). Easingwold's batsmen also scored freely with Paul Skilbeck's 70 being the best effort. With Martin Piercy (30), Dan Copeland (35) and Paul Redshaw (30) all chipping in, Easingwold were able to draw at 237-8. Blackburn completed a good day by taking 3-74 while Ben Crewe had 3-60.

Division One. - The clash at Ripon between the bottom-placed hosts and table toppers Hull Zingari produced the predictable result with the Humbersiders running out as easy winners by eight wickets. For the home side, Nick Harland made 42 and Paul Sorby 26 but a useful 12-over spell by Matt Scarr which earned him 5-25 had the innings closing on 114 all out. Zingari skipper Ali Markham then led the response with an unbeaten 62, while Nick Biggs chipped in with 27.

Division Three. - Welton & Brough took over as leaders of Division Three after gaining a winning draw at Sessay whose 176-3 failed to match the visitor's 219-8. Ben Watkin was Welton's batting star with 83 with Danny McCune 26 and L Hills 34no in support. Karl Carver had 4-44 for Sessay, whose reply included 67 by Luke Ramsay, an unbeaten 39 from Alex Shepherd and 27 by Giles Cressay. Pete Green had 3-41 for the Humbersiders.

Fourth Division Round-Up. - Easingwold relinquished the leadership of Div 4B when Pickering's Dan Hardy hit the last ball of the match for a winning six. In a 42-over game, Easingwold made 182-7 with Alan Robinson making 46 and Andrew Ball 42. Kevin Wilson replied with 62, but the Pikes' batsmen were troubled by Jason Sargeant's 4-26. However Dan Hardy roared to the rescue as his winning hit lifted his tally to 37no.
