SKEEBY youngster Jonathan Richardson was hit by a throat infection on the eve of Saturday’s second round trials championship at Pacos de Ferrierer, Portugal.

The event had been shrouded in controversy after the opening round shambles in Spain the previous weekend, where newly instigated observing rules did not quite work as planned.

SCARBOROUGH DMC kept their busy season on song with an Easy/Beginners Trial on Wednesday night with the affable Howard Hunter clerk of course for the three laps of seven sections.

All sections were on the easy side, encouraging young and old to have a go at this extremely popular sport of trials.

Fifty riders competed including many new faces.

Toby Teasdale snatched Youth D class by one mark from Jack Darrell to follow in brother Ben’s tyre tracks as a winner and Callum Williamson, recovered from a nasty knock in recent weeks to take the win from Ellie Peirson.

GUISBOROUGH DMC got their popular summer series under way at Ellers Farm, Fryup on a Saturday night of glorious sunshine, with just a nip in the air for observers.

Clerk of course was Guisborough’s Phil Teasdale, who produced a three-lap, ten-section course with section severity on this rocky moorland terrain spot on for the 100 entrants.

Young MRS Sherco rider Richard Sadler was in his element.

and rode the entire course unpenalised. In fact, it was a night of youth versus experience as, matching him all the way were David Pye and Phil Mayfield.

Yarm’s Tom Affleck saw his chance disappear on the greasy angled rock step and turn of seven, the Sherco dropping into the rut for five marks lost and third place.

THREE competitors rode the entireYorkshire Classic club’s trials course at Keighley Gate without losing a single penalty mark. Helmsley motorcycle trials frame builder Duncan Macdonald, Fellbeck dairy farmer Norman Shepherd and Keighley’s Tom Emmott completed four laps of the rocky course on British machines with a collective age of almost 150 years.

WEST Witton youth trialler Richard Sadler excelled at the Darlington club’s Telfitt Trial on Sunday at Marske by winning his class and the event overall from Askrigg’s Phil Alderson.

Hurworth teenager Rob Waite rode his MRS Sherco to third place in the overall standings while Paul Sadler, Richard’s father, took the clubman class from Skeeby’s Allan Richardson.
