Sweet 16 for Stokesley’s Lindy

STOKESLEY teenager Lindy Burnip celebrated her 16th birthday by taking a top prize in a show in Scotland, WRITES MALCOLM BEWSHER.

Lindy received the sevenyear- old gelding Seatshills Little Rogue as a birthday present, and won the show hunter pony championship and 153cm section at the BSPS Scottish Summer Championship Show, held at Strathallan Park.

Lindy was absolutely delighted and had the catch ride at the BSPS Winter Championships held at Arena UK deputising for Sophie Staveley, who had broken her leg, taking the Winter Open section, besides clinching three reserve championships and tickets for both the Royal International and Horse of the Year.

Lindy thanks her producers Clare, Peter and Sarah Emmerson.

Her younger sister Danielle competed at Strathallan and booked her HOY ticket in the 133cm show hunter riding the 13-year-old mare Antoinettes Catamount by Tweedy Nimmo’s great stallion Duntarvie Catamount.

Danielle also has a ticket in the 122cm section riding Wingland Make Believe which won at NPS Area 5.

Sarah Emmerson had a worthwhile trip to the Three Counties, in Malvern by leading Jessica Reed to win the lead rein mountain and moorland HOY qualifier and reserve champion, with eight year old Welsh A gelding Thamevalley Backchat by Pendock Legend.

Sarah also led Erika Carter’s six-year-old Jonika Whistles the Wind, ridden by Phoebe Borrowdale, to clinch her HOY in the lead rein show hunter which will be held for the first time at Birmingham.
