THE club's runners were out and about this week, with destinations from Ingleborough, Dumfries, Sheffield, Ballater and the more local but slightly challenging James Heriot 14k.

Lucy Verrill took on the Ingleborough mountain race which covers 6.8 miles but with a climb of 1968 ft to go up Ingleborough the 2nd highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales it was always going to have some decent views but she had to get up there first.

Even including a fall she finished in an excellent 124th and the 11th female (01:13:27). A wet and breezy Ballater 10 miler held over a multitude of terrains on Royal Deeside was Mark Crawfords choice over the week-end. Mark had a good run and (67:03) and even had time to notice that her Majesty was in residence, however he didn’t get invited in for tea afterwards. A large turnout of the clubs athletes ran the hilly James Herriot 14km trail race, which was started by Jim Wight (son of Alf Wight who wrote the books). Lee Davies, Carl Jones, Mark Forrest, Carl Loughney, Rob Lickley, Robert Dashwood and Nicki Buckett took to the route, official results will be available next week, but Richmonds runners did very well! Marc Scotts selection for Team GB over 5,000m had been confirmed for the European Championships to be held in Berlin, Germany.
