RICHMOND'S flying athletes were this week as far afield as Birmingham, Ripon, Solihull, Gateshead, Middlesborough, Stockton, North Duncombe, Sheffield, Golden Acre and Burton Leonard.

Kyle Rabjohn continues to shine at 800m and had qualified for the English Schools championships at Birmingham. In his heat he finished 2nd qualifying him for the final and running another new pb in the process (2:02:59). In a thrilling final Kyle led them out making a race of it as there were some rapid runners in the field and with 200m to go made a break for the line, Kyle fought all the way but unfortunately, he was caught by 2 other athletes and was tantalisingly caught on the line by a third runner pushing him down to fourth and just out of the medals. However, Kyle had a fantastic run and broke his personal best by nearly another second taking him inside the national standard (2:01:64, pb). Over at Solihull Ken Harker was representing the North East Masters at the inter regional track and field meet in 1500m. He finished 8th in the V35 – V49 race (04:54:03). Later on in the week Ken ran the Northern Masters 1500m final and took top honours in the V45 race and the Northern Champion over 1500m (04:43:1). There was plenty of Richmond runners at the local Pit Stop 10k held at Croft race circuit. The flying Carl Jones took 2nd overall, Ian Christon was 14th (39:03) and Kimberley Reeve was the 7th lady and 1st V40. In the 5km race Robert Dashwood was 23rd (22:11). Callum Crisp (06:12) took the victory in the 2km race with Joe Reeve (06:17) making it a Richmond 1st and 2nd! The latest round of the Harrogate summer league had David Hack in 23rd (30:28), Donna Riddler in 52nd and the 3rd lady (32:27), Lewis Moore in 91st (34:29), Lucy Verrill in 119th (36:07), Kevin Bond was 141st (37:18), Garry Malton in 175th (39:13), Pauline Whittaker in 233rd (42:36), Nicki Buckett in 279th (45:33) and Jane Bond was 332nd (52:01). Liam Rabjohn was 4th overall at the Great North 10k (35:13), Carl Loughney was in 121st breaking his pb (42:02, pb) and Garry Malton was 628th (49:06). Tom O’Mahoney took the win in the family run (5:08). Some of the more insane took on the Burn Valley half marathon in rather warm conditions with Steve Middleton in 5th and the 1st V40 (1:26:40), Robert Dashwood was 73rd (1:51:08), Kimberley Reeve was 79th, 10th lady and the 4th V40 (1:51:46), Pauline Whittaker (2:07:41) and Nicki Buckett was 194th (2:23:39). In the York 5K series Reece Dalton was 2nd (15:52) and Steve Middleton was 8th (16:57). At the Preston park trail run Dan Francis was 1st, Joe Reeve in 20th and the 2nd youth (20:42) and Emily Francis was the 5th female and 1st female youth. The last NYSD was at Middlesborough with penty of excellent results. Tom O’Mahoney was 2nd in the U15, 800m (02:29), Ken Harker was 5th in the senior 800m (02:26:83) and 6th in the 5000m (18:20:0). Kimberley Reeve took top ladies honours and 6th overall in the Grim Up North 10k trail in North Duncombe and Shannon Robinson set the fastest leg in the junior girls race at the Golden Acre relays helping her team to the win (18:15). At the Ray Johnstone memorial 10k at Billingham Garry Malton set a new personal best in 58th (48:12, pb). The undulating Burton Leonard 10k is always very, very hot and this year was no exception. Lewis Moore was 48th (46:34), Robert Dashwood was 56th (47:19), Kimberley Reeve was the 10th lady and 2nd V45 (51:26), Kevin Bond was 93rd (50:12), Pauline Whittaker was 162nd (56:48) and Nicki Buckett was 222nd (63:20). The ladies team were 6th overall. Joe Reeve was the top runner in the U13 race over 3k. Middlesbrough was the venue for the NEYDL this week and Holly McCowie was 1st in the U13 1500m (05:08:04), Shannon Robinson was 2nd (05:20:03) in the same race. Shannon also set a new pb in the 200m (31:7, pb) and in the high jump (1:10, pb). Tom O’Mahoney was 2nd in the 800m, 1st in the javelin and 3rd in the discus.

Carl Loughney was 34th in a new pb (19:13, pb), Garry Malton was 114th (22:00) and Nicki Buckett was 173rd (27:25) at Catterick parkrun. Deb Pennick was 220th at Tees Barrage parkrun (39:58). Ollie Middleton took the victory at Northallerton junior parkrun in a new massive pb (08:17, pb).
