RICHMOND'S athletes were out and about at Ilkley, Lordstones, York, Sheffield, Yarm, Darlington and Wilmslow.

The Harrogate summer road league is one of the hotly contested competitions for the summer season and this week was no exception when it was held at the undulating course in Ilkley.

Tom O’Mahoney took the area title in the year 7/8 boys in the 1500m held at York and smashing his pb in the process (4:51:07), the ever improving Joe Reeve just behind in 2nd and another one to add a new pb (5:01) and Dominic Wilford also one to improve his life time best in 5th with a huge pb by 20 seconds.

Emily Wilford also won the discus title in the same age group.

The Masters Grand Prix was held at Sheffield with Ken Harker improving his seasons time once again in the 1500m, finishing an excellent 5th overall and the 2nd V45 in a strong field (4:42:5, sb).

Kimberley and Joe Reeve ran the 5k held at Yarm, Joe also winning the race (18:18) and mum Kimberley finished as the 3rd lady (22:58).

In the York 5k series after 3 rounds Reece Dalton leads the field with the more mature Steve Middleton in 2nd overall.

The latest round of the NEYDL was held at Darlington with a number of our young athletes in action. Shannon Robinson had a win in the 80m hurdles in a new pb (13:8, pb), followed up by 3rd in the 800m (2:35:1) and also competed in the javelin.

The U13 relay team of Sam Archer, Tom O’Mahoney, Joe Reeve and James Stitt had a good run to finish 4th in their first race as a quartet. Tom O’Mahoney took the win (4:58) and Joe Reeve was 2nd in the U15 1500m (5:06). Tom also won the javelin and the discus in the same age group.

It was a rather hot day to be running anything over a couple of miles but Steve Middleton took the trip to Wilmslow for the re-arranged half marathon from March. He started brilliantly but the heat got to him and he finished in a very decent 42nd overall and the 9th V40 (1:19:19).
