NORTHALLERTON first team set a new club record of 20 victories from 20, eclipsing the 3rd team of 1995-96 who had 19 from 19 consecutive wins. North kept their run going with a 22-0 home win over Leeds Modernians at Brompton Lodge in cold and muddy conditions.

North controlled most of the first half play with their superior forwards setting a good platform from which the backs profited on numerous occasions.

It was Norths backs that scored all the first half points as North racked up a fifteen point lead by half time.

Mathew Marsay and Sandy Grey scored a try apiece with fly half Jedd Bainbridge contributing to the points tally with two conversions and a penalty.

The second half was a closer affair with North still dominant in the forwards but the backs not linking quite as well as earlier.

North had a couple of chances to score but either chose the wrong option at the last moment or the Mods defence pressured North into a mistake.

Ten minutes from time Northallerton got their just reward with a penalty try after Mods deliberately brought down two scrums on the five metre line while under immense pressure from the North pack.

Norths man of the match was awarded to youngster Jedd Bainbridge.

Next week Northallerton travel to play at Castleford with a 2.15pm kick off.

Northallerton second team sent a squad of 20 players to Whitby and returned with a comprehensive 60-12 victory.

Norths tries came from Paul James(5), Giles Drew(3), Toby Sadler, Peter Skinner and Brian Tucker added five conversions.

Man of the match, unsurprisingly was awarded to Paul James playing for the first time at number 8.

Next week Norths seconds are scheduled to be at home to Acklam with a 2.15pm kick off.
