A TEAM of youngsters who felt like the poor relations now are possibly the best-dressed in the league.
As the only team in the Leyburn Juniors stable without a sponsor for their team strip the Under 8s side felt like the poor relations at a wedding. Looking like a veritable mish-mash of different sporting outfits the youngsters contrasted badly with all the other teams who courtesy of local sponsorship were all well-turned out.
To the rescue, in stepped the local Cooperative Store who with a cash donation of £640 from the Community Fund rescued the Under 8s from the attentions of the sports fashion police. Now the youngsters all have smart jackets and a full team outfit in bright yellow. The deal was secured for the team by the manager of the Leyburn Store Jonathan Barker.
Chairman of Leyburn Juniors Chris Ellis said:“ Thanks very much to the Cooperative for their generous sponsorship.
“This has enabled us to buy jackets to keep the boys and girls warm and a football strip which looks ‘just the business’.”
