THE fairly level multi terrain Whixley 10k, in its 2nd year, attracted 148 finishers on a morning which kept dry after a night of heavy rain.

The muddy parts were more muddy because of that, but runners coped well, and Ian Crane, in his usual flying form just now, finished 54th in 49.14, with the superb Pat Kirby, almost unbeatable in her age group, 86th, and 1st F65, in 53.47, new member Daska Wilson, in her first race for the club, 131st in 62.24, Gillian Crane 135th in 66.05, Ian Codling, carrying an injury, 146th in 76.03 and Marian Codling, in a vastly improved time compared with last year, 148th in 78.22.

Members were at no fewer than 8 Park Runs at the weekend, and at the Fountains Abbey event, Lorrains Hiles came 55th out of 366 in 22.51, Linda Bamforth 224th in 30.01, Paul Adams 236th in 30.49, Gillian Crane 240th in 31.02, Steve Isaac 288th in 33.28 and Jane Cummins 291st in 33.54.

Josh Fothergill was a superb 2nd out of 107 at Northallerton in 19.48, with Jody Sygrove 9th in 22.06 and Duncan Fothergill 31st in PB 25.51.

Charlotte Wilton was again in fine form at Albert Park, 31st out of 256, and 1st lady, in 20.53.

It was good to see Ken Evitt turning out again, at Darlington South Park, and he finished 296th out of 312 in 40.46.

Hayley Tyson had her weekly run at Sheffield Hallam, coming 168th out of

676 in PB 23.49, and at Durham, Dave Baker came 103rd out of 393 in

24.53 with Rosie Gatenby 253rd in 29.32.

Martyn Coy had an away day at Henley on Thames finishing 10th out of 68 in 22.38, and Mike and Tracey Lowther were at Fell Foot, Newby Bridge, Mike finishing 30th out of 232 in 22.13 and Tracey 132nd in 29.22.

The previous weekend, Bryan Miller and his large team organised an excellent Fell Race, the tough Gormire Gamble, Race 2 in the Dave Parry Winter Fell Race Series. Tom Levi was first club finisher in an excellent 5th place in a time of 46.37. Cameron Choules, in a good vein of form, was 13th in 50.46, Marc Davies 44th in 59.42, Alan Simpson 47th in 60.02 and Phillip Craig 84th in 80.21. Former member, Sarah Glover, always available to help at club events, acted as sweeper for the field of 90.
