THE Pickering club certainly went to town on Sunday by staging a solo and sidecar grass track event at their Haygate Lane venue and also an easy trial at Riseborough. The eleven section trial course tested seventeen mono

riders and a single twin shock contender. The single youth, Macauley

Bowers, failed to get his 80cc Beta through all the sections so was classified as the only retiree. Rob Hunter cleaned the entire course on his 300cc Vertigo with some good riding in sections seven, eight and nine where logs, tight turns round trees and steep climbs and drops took many marks from the lesser lights. After periods of prolonged rain the clerk of course and his assistants marked out a mild course but th sun bathed too area on Sunday morning and absorbed some of the ground moisture so the penalties were on the low side of good. The organising team thank the eleven observers for their services. Pickering will run again at the popular Yatt's Farm at Newton on Rawcliffe on December10 starting at 11.00 am.

Yeadon-Guiseley M.C. West Yorkshire Championship trial, Fellbeck. Sunday

BARNSLEY builder Neil Savage matchekd Dougie Lampkin's winning score seven days ago by riding the entire Yeadon-Guisley club's trials course at Dob Park for a single penalty. His family go back four generations and his main rival on Sunday was his teenage daughter Megan along with British ladies contenders Gabby Whitham, Beth Dunning, Alice Minta and Olivia Brooksbank.

In addition to that quartet were forty seven male contenders of all ages and sizes. The annual Dave Curry Trophy event also attracted a further twenty one youngsters who rode a separate seven section three class course.

British Ladies Trials Championship standings

THE Auto Cycle Union Trials and Enduro Committee has ratified all scores in the Acklams Beta British Ladies and Girls Trials Championship today. Emma Bristow retains her title as adult British champion from Chesterfield's Jess Bown. Crosshills Ladies Intermediate class Beth Dunning has won her class by virtue of winning the last event in the series. Denholme fourteen year old Olivia Brooksbank won all six Class B age group classes and headed her class by a massive nineteen championship points..

Lakes MTA Lakes Trial, Broughton in Furness.

World TrialsTwo and Welsh champion Iwan Roberts won Lakes Two Day trial on Sunday from Dan Thorpe and Ross Danby. Roberts set the standard on Saturday with a score of ten to lead the event from Birstall motorcycle instructor Dan Thorpe and extended the lead on Sunday. Jack Price, new British champion, suffered in the number draw and lost marks on Saturday that he could not pull back. The Denby Dale twenty year old finished eighth. It was a double victory for Wales when Wrexham's Phil Houghton won the clubman category from Sheffield riders Lee Sampson and Darren Wasley. Dense hill fog shrouded the south Lake District fells.
