MEMBERS of a ladies cricket club has been bowled over by the success of their newly established group.

The Middleton-in-Teesdale Cricket Club decided to launch a ladies group after the success of their junior members who took part in the England and Wales Cricket Board's All Star Programme.

The team now has 14 members aged from 14 to 60 who train every Tuesday in the village hall, form 8pm.

Unofficial captain, Gillian Hutchinson, said the group was initially launched to improve fitness but the members enjoyed it so much that they decided to enter cricket competitions with the few rare ladies teams they could find.

Mrs Hutchinson thanked the club's Anthony Coatsworth for leading their coaching and said all the members were really enjoying the sessions.
