A BUSY week culminated in the latest Club Championship race, the popular Melmerby 10k on Sunday, on a very warm morning for running. This mildly undulating road race from the pleasant village of Melmerby had 319 finishers, with Cameron Choules being 1st club finisher, in 20th place in a fine 38.50. Josh Fothergill came 28th in 39.47 and won the prize for the 1st male under 18. Well done Josh. Stephan Tomaszewski again performed well, finishing 35th in 40.11 with Rob Lickley 49th in 41.19, Richard Harry 66th in 43.01, Tom Levi 79th in 44.25, Rob Burn 88th in 44.46, Alan Simpson, obviously not suffering from the heat too much, 127th in PB 47.44, Peter Richardson 157th in 50.43, Rachael Robertson 160th in 50.55, Andy Butcher 162nd in 51.01, Geoff Bullock 189th in 53.10, Nicola Booth 200th in 54.31, Duncan Fothergill 202nd in 54.55, the astonishing Pat Kirby who keeps on producing high performances, 209th and 1st F65 in 55.43, Heather Bell 213th in 56.01, Alison Butcher 225th in 57.38, Sara Langstaff 243rd in 60.15, Trish Radford 252nd in 61.04, Christine Burn 279th in 65.18, Gillian Crane 284th in 66.57, Cath Lumb 298th in 70.25, Ian Codling 310th in 73.21 and Marian Codling 318th in 82.28.

A few members were among the 657 at the Northallerton 10k, an unlicensed charity event starting and finishing in the High Street.

Mike Lowther was 54th in 44.29, Phillip Craig 215th in 52.58, Alan Harman 302nd in 56.38, Tracey Lowther 415th in 61.21, Hannah Fletcher 435th in 62.09 and Liz Stephenson 623rd in 75.38.

The Harrogate and District Summer Race League got underway at Harrogate on Tuesday with the large field of 493 meaning that later runners took several seconds just to get to the start line. The 6 mile, mainly road race was a toughie, with several testing hills, and Ken Wood was first Harrier home, 96th in 41.03, with David Fawkes just behind in a photo finish, 97th in 41.04, followed by Rob Lickley 138th in 43.12, Charlotte Wilton 161st in 44.19, Hilary Coventry 236th in 47.37, Dave Baker 255th in 48.36, just pipping Fran Jeffery, 256th in 48.37, Phillip Craig 305th in 51.19, Andy Butcher 309th in 52.21, Duncan Fothergill 344th in 53.00, Malcolm Aitken 346th in 53.03, Pat Kirby 366th in 54.30, Nigel Morgan 375th in 54.57, Geoff Bullock 377th in 55.06, Craig Ivey 379th in 55.17, Chris Wordsworth 380th in 55.22, Jill Libby 388th in 55.52, Alison Butcher 400th in 56.38, Rosie Gatenby 414th in 57.33, Trish Radford 428th in 58.28, Liz Wordsworth 431st in 58.55, Linda Bamforth 454th in 60.55, Gillian Crane 481st in 66.09, Ian Codling 490th in 73,42, Peter Richardson, checking the course in his role of race adjudicator, 492nd in 77.43 and Marian Codling 493rd in 79.03. As ever, members were at various Park Runs, 7 being among the 346 at Fountains Abbey where the park looked its beautiful best. Hannah Fletcher was 203rd in 29.34, Linda Bamforth 213th in 29.58, Paul Adams 227th in 31.06, Gillian Crane 273rd in 33.45, Emma Adams 279th in 34.12, Ian Codling 308th in 35.39 and marian Codling 325th in 39.51.

Archie Whitfiled put in another superb performance at Stewart Park to finish in 3rd place in PB 18.52.

Joanne and Peter Richardson were at Darlington South Park, Joanne coming 311th out of 390 in 33.47 and supported by Peter, 312th in 33.48.

There were 140 finishers at the Parke event in Devon, coming 27th and 3rd lady in 23.51.

Woking was the destination for Nigel Morgan, who came 147th out of 363 in 26.05, and Helen Goacher came a very good 56 th out of 240 at the Riverway event in Queensland in 26.33.
