FOR the second year in a row two brothers from the same North Yorkshire School have been chosen as team cricket captains.

Throughout the 2016 season, brothers Oliver and Casper Stone were the respective captains of Aysgarth School’s 1st XI and U11 A XI cricket teams. This year siblings Freddie and Charlie Read will captain the sides.

Thirteen-year-old Freddie, scored his first century while he was in the Under 11 side and not to be outdone, Charlie,11, has got off to an excellent start, scoring two unbeaten 50’s in his first two games as captain of the U11 team.

Cricket teams from Aysgarth School at Newton-le-Willows near Bedale are presently dominating the northern schools circuit; in the past week they won 24 matches out of 24. Six boys within the school are currently representing district cricket teams and are pushing for county selection.
