Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers

CONGRATULATIONS are in order to Charlotte Wilton who achieved her 100th Park Run this weekend. Very well done. Charlotte was among the 304 runners at Albert Park, where she finished in 37th place in 20.49, and was 1st lady finisher, typical of her finishing places! She was accompanied by Rob Lickley, 24th in 19.53 and Lorraine Hiles, 52nd in 21.53.

Among the 237 at Fountains Abbey, Andy Butcher came 78th in 24.41, Brian Smith 136th in 27.20, Ian Crane 151st in 27.51, Alison Butcher 188th in 29.38, Linda Bamforth 220th in 31.18 just pipping Paul Adams 222nd in 31.19, Gillian Crane 251st in 32.24, Drikus van der Westhuisen 262nd in 33.26, Emma Adams 281st in 34.12, Ian Codling 296th in 35.53 and Marian Codling 323rd in 40.06. No-one is doing a PB just now as the temporary course is about 100 metres longer than the stipulated 5k!

Ken Wood and Jody Sygrove were at Northallerton with Ken coming 3rd out of 87 in 21.21 and Jody 5th in 22.34.

Jane Cummins tried out the Huddersfield course and came 549th out of 707 in 33.43.

The latest NYSD Cross Country Fixture took place the next day at Summerhill Country Park. The setting and the afternoon were lovely but there were long stretches of sticky mud which made for very hard going, as well as a little beck to be jumped over or stood in. The men had to do 3 of these laps, but the ladies were thankful only to have to do one, as well as a short lap!

Lucy verrill was first lady finisher, 31st out of 90 in 22.03, Christine Burn 76th in 29.38, Bev Davies 87th in 33.19 and Marian Codling 90th in 38.58. Ian Codling, running with the tadies, took 33.58.

Rob Burn was first male club runner, 83rd out of 123 in 45.29 with Marc Davies 105th in 49.55.

As a complete contrast, and virtually nothing could have been a bigger contrast, 3 Harriers were among well over 1000 runners at the Dewsbury 10k, a fast, flat out and back road race. Peter Richardson took 47.39, Joanne Richardson 70.45 and Liz Stephenson 75.12.
