JST Gas Gas rider Jack Peace added another impressive victory to his CV by nailing his first national win on home soil last Sunday.

The 16-year-old from Kirkbymoorside pocketed the big money on offer, plus the magnificent Cliff Collinson Trophy, with a superb ride of just 15 marks lost at Low North Park.

He continued his impressive season by holding on under pressure to win by two marks from Spain's Benoit Bicarz, while elder brother Dan Peace finished third, a further point down.

The trial went ahead thanks to a monumental effort from the Scarborough and District MC team, led by the unflappable Pat Galway. Torrential overnight rain put the event in doubt, but it started after a delay of just half and hour, with many hazards re-routed.

THE rain dampened spirits at the Pickering and District MC’s motocross meeting at their Haygate Lane track on Sunday.

The club accepted 62 adults and 18 youngsters initially, but some did not arrive and some did not start because of the intermittent squalls on a very cool day.

The track marshals and officials were on the receiving end of the first taste of winter, but stuck to their tasks.

Danby’s Robbie Dowson ran through the group one card, tracked by Jimmy Margetson and Lincolnshire visitor Ben James. In the final race, the trio enjoyed a quiet charge to the flag, all alone.

The club abandoned the usual heats and final for the unlimited opener, but there was no doubt about the top youth. Broughton racer Patrick Jackson copied Dowson right down to the wire, leading Toby Flack and Luke Turner in all four five-lap races.

Pickering will run again at Haygate on November 20.

HARROGATE Beta dealer Joel Sadler won Wetherby and District MC's coveted Stan Cox Memorial Trial at a wet and windy Bayliss Gap Farm last Sunday from Summerbridge electrician Danny Gamble, the only graded expert in the trial.

Gamble pitted his dated TYZ Yamaha against the modern high-tech machines and managed to get through only three out of the 12 sections on the hillside course. “I lost a bucketful of marks on lap one”, he said.

Sadler won the hard course class by a margin of 18 penalties, with Liversedge Montesa rider Jamie Stephenson trailing by 24 penalties.

Nigel Crowther's supremacy on his Vertigo was under severe pressure from James Noble and Montesa 4RT-mounted Glen Scholey, who was in with a chance at the fifth, where Crowther stopped on each lap. Neil Gaunt was also under the hammer from Howard Gulley, Rob Hardisty and Ian Myers.

Only 43 entered the centre-restricted event, with not a youth in sight.
