Richmond Town 8 Harton & Westoe 0

DESPITE Harton and Westoe's lowly league position, nothing could be taken away from what was arguably Richmond Town's best performance of the season so far last Saturday.

After a scare in the opening minutes when Town keeper Karl Latcham saved with an outstretched foot from the visitors' Shaun Heads, it was one-way traffic.

Kalumn Holbrook used all his strength to lose his marker and pick out Alex Caisely, who fired over, before Connor Lyon crossed for Scott Ryan, whose shot was deflected over for a corner from which Colin Anderson's header brought a save from Andy Hunter.

Richmond took the lead after 27 minutes, Ryan heading home Anderson's cross, and they almost produced a superb team goal when a terrific move involving Mark Edzes, Holbrook and Ryan ended with Lyon hitting the side-netting.

James Coatsworth and Dan Caisely then combined well for Holbrook, whose shot was too high.

With three minutes of the first half remaining, Richmond doubled their lead. Ryan was again the scorer after Coatsworth's cross was helped on by Lyon.

Latcham saved at full stretch from David Halliday in stoppage time to ensure Richmond went in at half-time with a two-goal cushion.

The second half was only into its third minute when Anderson headed home to make it 3-0 and the visiting keeper was soon back in the thick of the action, denying Anderson when producing a fine save low to his left before using his legs to keep out Lyon.

Andrew Hill brought down Holbrook to concede a penalty, which the Town midfielder fired home to make it 4-0 in the 67th minute. A minute later, it was five when Dan Caisely produced a smart finish low into the far corner after he was picked out by the ever-busy Ryan.

With 72 minutes played, a piece of Richmond Town history was possibly made when Andrew Caisely made his debut, coming on as a substitute. It was the first time that three brothers were on the field at the same time.

Mike Elliott smashed home from a corner after 77 minutes, then a quickly-taken Holbrook free kick caught out the Harton defence and his pass was converted by Ryan to complete his hat-trick.

With seven minutes remaining, Holbrook curled a shot from 25 yards into the top corner for his second and Richmond's eighth.

Latcham was called into action moments before the whistle to produce a save and keep a clean sheet.
