CLERK of course Dave Lees and helpers put in a tremendous amount of work for Guisborough and District MC's Dales Trophy Trial held at Fryup last Sunday.

All riders were away on time to tackle the 20-section, two-lap course and Whitby's Andy Chilton, riding the Scorpa, topped the expert class from Beta rider Simon Kershaw.

Inter winner Rob Carter cleaned, as did Andy Keel on the clubman route.

EBORACUM MC held the second round of its popular Wednesday night easy trials at the excellent venue of Warthill.

Used by the club in the 1970s and owned by trials rider Peter Charlesworth and family, the wooded venue, with its grassy bank sides, proved spot on for all competitors.

On the adult hard route, Andrew Coulson rode his ageing Yamaha to a joint win, cleaning the entire course. He also observed section two for a couple of laps, before dashing round to finish unpenalised.

THE third round of the Stanley Trials Club's Wednesday evening series went off at Butsfield Quarry last week, when 40 riders turned up just off the A68 in County Durham.

With another faultless ride, Colin Ward took the clubman win ahead of Garry Bloodworth, who almost matched Ward's score but for an errant dab in section eight which denied him a share of the spoils.

Ian Smith is back with a bang with a second win in a few days on the easy course.

JUST a week elapsed and the members of Scarborough and District MC were at work again, running the third of their club championship trials at Low North Park last Sunday.

Simon Kershaw topped the results over the four laps of 10 sections set by Pat Galway, Steve Temple and Dave Wilkinson.

Middlesbrough's Chris Brown edged a tough intermediate win from Ben Myers by three marks, while Whitby's Mike Noble hit fantastic form to remain unpenalised and head class A.

The new easy routes and conducted trials are gaining ground. Nicola Dixon, winner on the white route, almost matched brother Mike Noble by remaining unpenalised.

WORLD and British ladies' trials champion Emma Bristow stormed the fourth event in the Acklams Beta Ladies' and Girls' trials championship at Dob Park last Sunday, covering the three woodland laps of the Washburn Valley for a mind-blowing 14 marks.

Challenger Donna Fox trailed 39 marks behind the MRS Sherco champion, who posted a 7-1-6 score in the 12 sections. Jess Bown was 10 down on Fox and 17 ahead of JST front-runner Katy Sunter.

The youth A class proved to be a titanic battle between Alicia Robinson and Beta contender Gabby Whitham. The latter won on the day thanks to minder Sam Boocock, who spurred the Silsden girl at every section.

Beth Dunning was on fire after winning Lincoln and Torridge, heading Skeeby's Hannah Richardson by five marks. Skeeby's other trials star, Niamh Richardson, won youth inter from Shannon Butler.

THE battle of the moors fires up again at remote Hurst on Sunday, when the unique Richmond Motor Club National Mintex Trophy Trial will test the stamina and skills of 53 class A and B youngsters.

For some reason, this two-lap race against the clock and 30 sections seems to be again a Boys' Own adventure and provides a foretaste of just what the Scott Trial is about.

Nathan Stones and his team have spent time locating sections and avoiding any area that is sensitive.

The first competitor starts at 10.30am and the rest follow at 30-second intervals. Only competitors and travelling marshals are permitted on the course, all of which is on private land.
