RICHMOND Motor Club rose to the occasion on Sunday at Barnacres Farm, Skeeby where the club staged the Chloe Richardson Kilimanjaro Fundraising Trial.

It was second time round for the organisers after Swale Farm venue was underwater exactly a month ago. The event was rescheduled to run on the Richardson acres where Chloe and Uncle Leslie

(Richardson) set out a four-lap ten section course for 69 riders of all ages and sizes. Bear in mind this was a charity event in aid of Save the Children Appeal and The Future Sense Foundation. A combination of revenue from the trial and donations brought Sunday’s total to an amazing £835. Chloe was out on the trial course at 8am Sunday morning checking every section and ensuring Uncle Leslie had done his job correctly.

He had excelled, so well in fact that 14-year-old Tom Needham took over as Small Wheels master of ceremonies keeping an eye on 15 very young riders. The youngsters rode the full ten-section four-lap course, albeit slightly easier. The Catterick boy rides trials and attends Richmond School.

His organisational endeavours are channelled into the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme. Section two was on the river bank with a steep descent and even steeper climb out.

The adults did struggle on the exit line but the small wheels had a milder exit line. Sections five to ten were marked cross the river with four being the actual river crossing but the water was shallow and the pebbles below plainly visible. Even with shallow water only Paul Ridley, he farms Kexwith, and Class B newcomer Ryan Brown, from Bellerby, cleaned on all four visits. Glen Hanslip took the Clubman class while Stephen Reynolds, uncle of the legendary Will Reynolds, was the top gun in the Over 40s.

According the Richmond newscaster New at Ten (don’t even ask) Stephen won the Mintex Trial six years ago. The Brothers Hodgson – twins, Ben and Dan headed class C while Callum Fowler fought off – again, Conrad and Monte Andrew. It was bath time for Conrad, or at least his Sherco was given swimming lessons.. And. Miss Chloe was very happy, especially when little sis Niamh won her class and the huge cheque for her chosen charity.

MRS Sherco rider Tom Affleck was unpenalised at Guisborough club’s first summer series trial held on Saturday night at Ellers Farm, Fryup.

Rain during the day made the predominantly rocky moorland course tricky, but Affleck never once looked in bother, even on the difficult climb and rock step where Intermediates found the going tougher and Mark Raw came out a clear winner, as runner up Phil Mayfield never got to grips with the awkward angled rocks of five, with a loss of 13.

Thirsk's Nigel Todd decided to upgrade and put a solid ride together in third. Star turn, along with Affleck, with feet up rides on the difficult fifth was Clubman A runner up, Leyburn visitor Adrian Harrison, but it was not quite enough to see off the experienced Mark Doughty who held on to win by one mark. End Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club, West Yorkshire Championship Stelvio Trophy Trial, Greenhow.

West Witton joiner Richard Sadler won the Stelevio Trophy Trial at Cockhill Lead Mines on Sunday beating Summerbridge electrician Danny Gamble and Centre Champion Sam Yeadon. Barnsley builder Darren Wasley topped the Clubman A category from Darley agricultural engineer Paul Dennis and Mirfield shoe retailer Andrew Jackson. Summerbridge field two winners when Phillip Hammnond grabbed the Clubman A class from Rawdon’s Karl Greaves who was riding his new Montesa machine.

Silsden youth champion Josh McParland won the hard course class in the Small Wheels category. Brilliant sunshine blazed down on the ancient disused lead mines where the Yeadan-Guiseley officials marked out a three lap fourteen section trials course. Special mention must be made of the Young Set. Sam Lampkin, cousin Alfie Lampkin, Henry Stephenson, Harry Turner, Elliott Laws and Charlie Mosley all rode the full course albeit on the Clubman A and B routes. Josh McParland won small wheels hard from Morgan Shepherd while Bradley Green and Miss Imogen Laws excelled in the medium and easy routes.

FIR TREE FARM was enjoying some rain on Saturday afternoon when the advance guard from the Ripon Motor Club arrived to lay out the second the second Acklams Motor Cycles summer championship trial at the North Yorkshire venue.

The small wheels category were on the receiving end as raindrops splash down on Simpsons Pond in the east plantation. Messrs Nigel Simpson and Adam and Aldis Blacker. By the time the main contestants arrived the rain had eased 90 competitors were thrashing about in 60 yards of dense woodland with a deep narrow stream. Keith Blythe’s top team of Mark and James Langstaff, Dave Carr and Dave Gamble, overseen by Chief Ganger Peter Fleetham, had planted ten sets of section flags.

TYNESIDER Graeme Parker ruled supreme at the Pickering club’s motocross meeting at Crook Farm on Sunday winning all three Group 1 races from Sean Robinson and top Hull rider Alistair Clark. Parker opened his form book by leading the 12-lap unlimited Neval Trophy East Yorks Championship final from start to finish albeit with close attendance by Guisborough KTM racer Sean Robinson. Clark got into his stride ahead of Hull’s Adam Plumtree and Sheffield Yamaha mounted James Goodall. In the merged Group 2/Antiqes races Alan Bott reigned supreme. The Wigan Maico rider also led the eight lap Allcomers Handicap from flag to flag leaving Robinson and Clark to battle through the field as scratch starters. The entry was down on normal and the old bogey of dust blanketed the racing.

SEATON Delaval Motor Club joined two separate courses together last Sunday, combining Forestburngate and Wards Hill, giving 64 riders three laps of 15 sections. Marked out the previous day in heavy rain some of the sections turned out a touch easy but the stream was still slippy at the end and took its fair share of marks.

John Crinson was well in control of the expert route, with a single dab in the mud of section three his only mark of the day, while Paul Nicholson, Andrew Battensby and Louis Grey all joined the winner with some last minute practice for next week's SSDT.

SPANISH world trials champion Toni Bou won the opening trial in the 2015 world championship series in Japan on Saturday from compatriot Jeroni Fajardo and Adam Raga.

Michael Brown and James Dabill took results that they probably want to forget. Brown was 11th and Dabill 13th. At least the British youngsters acquitted themselves well in the World Cup category.

Kirkbymoorside’s Dan Peace was placed fifth ahead Denby Dale’s Jack Price and Wallsend Ossa rider Billy Bolt. Of the 42 contestants 15 were Japanese nationals. On Sunday fortunes changed for Scarborough’s Michael Brown who retired with leg injuries. Bou won from Takahisa Fujinami and Fajardo. Dabill improved to eighth. And ranked tenth. Price took fifth in the World Cup class with Peace seventh and Bolt, riding a Scorpa, was eighth. The Brits are ranked sixth to eighth with Price heading the trio.
