A young man who died after he was found with stab wounds near a petrol station was last night named by police.

David Wilson was discovered on the A761 Kilmacolm Road in Port Glasgow at 1.55am on Saturday.

The 20-year-old was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock, where he died a short time later.

Strathclyde Police have launched a murder inquiry into the death of Mr Wilson, of Castlehill Avenue, Port Glasgow, who was single and

unemployed.

Detective Inspector John Dearie said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed a disturbance in Kilmacolm Road near to the filling station in the early hours of Saturday morning to contact us."
