PRUDENTIAL Corporation has signalled its intention to keep Scottish Amicable managing director Roy Nicolson when it takes over the Stirling-based life office on September 30, writes ROBERT POWELL.

The Pru said yesterday that Mr Nicolson had been appointed managing director of Scottish Amicable Life, as the company will be known thereafter.

In his new post, Mr Nicolson will be responsible for the sale of both ScotAm and Prudential life assurance products through the independent financial advisor (IFA) network, reporting to Prudential UK chief executive Jim Sutcliffe.

The group will retain a separate sales structures for the sale of Scot-Am and Prudential products through the IFA network with separate sales forces under Mr Nicolson's overall control.

But the product range will be reviewed and rationalised to eliminate overlaps. The Pru sales force will focus primarily on selling investment products, including the Prudence with-profits bond.

John Cowan, the present head of marketing at ScotAm, will stay on to head the sales force responsible for all Scottish Amicable branded products.
