Darlington completed a league double over Spennymoor Town last night, with Graeme Armstrong's first minute goal enough to seal the points in an incident-packed contest.

Armstrong header came on 35 seconds after a corner taken by Adam Mitchell, who was at the centre of the action. He struck the post later in the first half and after the break was denied a goalscoring opportunity by Shane Henry's crude challenge, but the Town midfielder escaped with a booking.

Spennymoor enjoyed lengthy spells of pressure in the second half, and twice saw Darlington make goal-line clearances - by Gary Brown and Ian Watson - while Alan White came close to scoring a headed own goal.

Peter Jameson kept out White's diving header on a night when Quakers' keeper was in top form, his most eye-catching effort being to deny Anthony Peacock by tipping his volley over the bar.
