THIRSK FALCONS ran out 10-1 winners on their visit to North Ormesby in the first round of the Teesside League Division One Lou Moore Memorial Trophy.

The game was remarkable for a number of reasons. Not only the goal tally, where Stuart Rose scored a hattrick, Josh Boynton bagged a brace and with Joe Barwick, Chris Everingham, Shane Bendelow, Gareth Barber and Lee Johnson also making up the Falcons’ scorers.

Ormesby started the game with only ten players as one was late.

When he did arrive, he was later sent off for swearing at the referee, while the Ormesby goalkeeper attempted on numerous occasions to charge down the pitch in order to score a goal before racing back to his own goalline.

Thirsk raced into a 6-0 lead in the first half only for the Falcons’ goalkeeper to slip to allow Ormesby to score a consolation, but the advantage was restored from the penalty spot.

Seven became eight soon after the restart, then nine, and ten, while the defenders and substitutes tried to get in on the act before the referee finally called time.

Falcons will play Stockton West End in the next round, but their immediate focus will be the league where they face BEADS tomorrow before travelling to Grangetown Bows Club in the NRFA Senior Cup a week later.
