THE PONY club where Olympic silver medallist Nicola Wilson started her equestrian career have enjoyed some impressive results this year.

Pony Club Area 3’s Hurworth Hunt Branch saw success at this year’s championships, across tetrathlon, eventing, dressage and polocrosse, along with a member in the Eventing Pony Europeans in Ireland.

Ella Eadon won the Intermediate Girls class at the Tetrathlon Championships at Bishop Burton College in August.

A total of 91 competitors qualified for the class from across the UK. Ella had the best shoot and best run as well as a clear ride, riding her 17-year-old mare My Centrefold.

Ben Williamson was second Individual in the Pony Club Novice Eventing Championships at Kelsall, Cheshire, with a total of 25.6, clear XC & SJ on his pony Zak.

Jemma Alderson was a member of the fourth-placed team in the Open Advanced Polocrosse and second in tack and turnout riding with the Percy branch at the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley.

Also at Cholmondeley Castle, Harriet Bagley finished fourth in the Dressage to Music Championships, while Charlie Dennis finished just out of the top 10 in the Pony Club Open Eventing Championships.

In the Brooke’s Mini-Polocrosse Championships, Jessica Alderson, riding with the Percy team, came third in the tack and turnout.

And Chloe Bell, riding Strawberry Box, rode in the British Pony Squad at the FEI European Championships at Millstreet in Ireland while Senior Camp was being held at her mother and father’s place at Breckenbrough.

Mother Helen said: “We’ve had Strawberry Box for eight years, buying him as a four-year-old from Ireland.

“My son Toby has also had great success with him doing FEI trials over the years.”

On a wet and miserable day, Hurworth’s team of Jessica Bedi, Harriet Speight, Helena Youmans and Leanne Anderson were delighted to ride in the Pony Club Show Jumping team at Bramham Horse Trials, and even more delighted when they came second.

District Commissioner Pat Arrand said: “We’re so proud of our talented members who’ve done exceptionally well at this year’s Pony Club Championships.

“Not forgetting other budding stars progressing through our rallies and camps – 30 minis and 20 seniors at Hurworth camps this year.

“With Nicola Wilson as an inspiring role model, how far might they go?”
