BEDALE FC have started the season in fine form having been promoted from the Harrogate and District League Division 1 to the Colin Lowe Memorial Premier Division.

Going into last Saturday’s game, they were unbeaten having played three and won three and were sitting top of the league. Last weekend was the hardest game to date at the R&R Ice Cream Stadium at BASA against a fine Knaresborough Celtic FC. Early goals from Ross Hodgson and David Proud ensured Bedale were coasting towards half time before a clear penalty conceded by Paul Orton reduced the arrears.

The visitors scored a second before the break and were the team in the ascendency in the second half. Only fine goalkeeping from Dean Hudson prevented Celtic taking the lead. Two late second half goals from Ross Hodgson ensured he completed his hat trick and Bedale won 4-2 and confirmed their position as championship favourites.

Last weekend saw the newly formed reserve team make their Wensleydale Creamery League debut at Catterick Rovers FC with an early goal from Matthew Libera securing all three points. There is no game tomorrow for the first team but the reserves are at home to Spennithorne and Harmby FC at 2pm.
