MIDDLESBROUGH'S exciting deadline day signing Jelle Vossen trained - and scored - in front of the fans at an open training session.
The season long loan signing from Genk joined other recruits Yanic Wildschut and Ryan Fredericks in a match played in front of supporters.
Jamal Blackman, a goalkeeper signed from Chelsea on deadline day, was not involved.
Emmanuel Ledesma, in the red, scored the first goal of the game with a briliant left foot curler from 25 yards. That was cancelled out when Vossen, wearing blue, showed his quality in the area by converting Andy Halliday's cross with a diving header.
But the reds reclaimed the lead when Lee Tomlin struck a stunner from outside the area in to the top right corner and then Kike, who swapped sides for the second half, added a third.
Vossen looked lively. He said: “I didn’t have a good pre-season because of the transfer rumours so I will need two or three weeks to really get in shape. But I will work as hard as possible to get there as fast as possible.”
But he is delighted to be at the Riverside. He said: "I’m really happy to be here, it took some time to make things right but now I’m ready for the challenge and I want to try and get some good results with the team.
“From the beginning I had a really good feeling about Middlesbrough. I knew that they wanted me very bad, but it took some time to get to this stage.”
