MIDDLESBROUGH-based young rider Lily Pollock won a showing championship class at Hickstead’s Longines Royal International Horse Show last month.

Lily, 15, claimed the honours in the Supreme Show Hunter Pony Championships in the international arena, riding Farrellys Charlie on her Hickstead debut.

The young rider has only in recent months begun showing with Team Jinks, which also includes David Jinks and Adam Forster.

Team Jinks is currently situated in Northallerton.

As one of the biggest outdoor shows in the United Kingdom, the Longines Royal International Horse Show in West Sussex uniquely sees elite from a variety of equestrian disciplines competing side by side.

It has everything, from the thrills and spills of international showjumping, to the elegance and glamour of champion showing horses and ponies, to the exhilarating buzz of the best scurry ponies in the entire country.

The six-day horse show is one of the oldest and most prestigious competitions in the equestrian calendar, and also plays host to a stage of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Series, which provides the British public with their only opportunity to see their national showjumping team competing at a domestic ground.
