MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Mejias: Could do nothing about the penalty and hardly had another save to make all night despite Bolton pressure;
7 Abella: Didn’t do much wrong for the second outing in a row since his move from Osasuna
6 Hines: Unfortunate to be the man to trip Davies for the penalty on an otherwise productive evening for him
7 Omeruo: Never seems to put a foot wrong in a Middlesbrough shirt at the heart of the defence
7 Friend: Kept any dangers at bay even if he was booked for a wild tackle on Lee in the second half;
6 Clayton: Decent enough first start in the middle for the former Huddersfield midfielder even if he faded after the restart
8 LEADBITTER: Struck his penalty well enough to equalise and looked keen to be on the ball and get the team moving;
5 Adomah: Unable to cause problems for the Bolton defence on either flank
7 Tomlin: After a lively start he faded after a first half problem with his knee but he still proved a threat
5 Nsue: Did not have the impact he would have liked on his full Championship debut down the right;
7 Kike: His flick earned the penalty and, on an otherwise quiet night, he pounced to score the second
Subs: Reach (for Nsue 62): Went close with a brilliant drive and set up Kike’s goal. 7
Ayala (for Clayton 78)
Whitehead (for Tomlin 90)
(not used): Konstantopoulos (gk), Husband, Williams, Fewster.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Grant Leadbitter – was always at the hub of everything and tried to get Boro going all night.
